Wollersheim Winery & Wollersheim Distillery
Saturday, January 26, 2019 | 10am – 4pm
Take a break from Wisconsin’s winter! Join us to celebrate our Port wines. Enjoy music, light food, and insights on Port wine from Winemaker Philippe.
Port Tour & Wine Tasting
Take a self-guided tour at your own pace to see how our Port wines are made in our modern fermentation facilities and where wine ages in barrels in our historic underground aging cellars. Along the way, enjoy tastes of the Red Port, White Port, our sister winery’s Cedar Creek Port Rosé and our award-winning Prairie Fumé. This self-guided tour is complimentary and is offered in lieu of our regular guided tour.
Wine & Food
Light food that complements Port wines will be available as a Port plate combination. Featured will be a handcrafted 6-year aged cheddar from Carr Valley Cheese, along with a flavorful chocolate truffle, fresh bread from our local Mixing Bowl Bakery, almonds and dried apricots. The Port plates are available to purchase with or without a glass of Red or White Port wine and while supplies last. All of our wines will be available for purchase to enjoy by the glass. Additional paid flights featuring estate-grown, dry and sweet wines are available for tasting in the Winery Store.
Winemaker Philippe will share remarks on both our Red Port and White Port, along with our newly released Whiskey aged in Port barrels. Talks are scheduled for 11:30am and 2:30pm.
Warm up to the riveting performance of Shawndell Marks as she and her band spice things up in our upstairs Sugarloaf Room from 12:00 to 3:45pm.
The debut of our Whiskey aged in Port barrels will be available to taste at the distillery. Also at the distillery, we offer a spirits flight and hand-crafted cocktails for purchase. Visit and see where all our Wisconsin-made spirits come to life.
Saturday, January 19, 2019 | 10am – 5pm
Enjoy a glass of wine while watching eagles soaring over the vineyard (weather and eagles permitting).
During the heart of winter, the Sauk Prairie area near Wollersheim Winery becomes a crucial place for nesting bald eagles that flock here to fish the open waters along the dame of the Wisconsin River. But the wintering eagles need more than open water to survive – the valleys and bluffs where they roost must be protected. For this reason, Wollersheim Winery has dedicated its efforts to the preservation of the eagles by donating a portion of the sales from each bottle of Eagle White to care for local habitats for bald eagles.
Our Eagle White is a semi-dry white with characteristics highlighting pear and lemon. Made from Wisconsin-grown St. Pepin and La Crosse grapes, and is a multiple award winner at the Wisconsin State Fair Professional Wine Competition. Serve with appetizers, pizza and eagle’s favorite food – fish!
