Prairie du Sac, Wis. – Wollersheim Winery will release the 2015 vintage of its Ice Wine at a winery event to be held Thursday, October 6. Visitors are invited to stop by the winery between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., to celebrate with a sample taste of the Ice Wine, along with a variety of special activities.

In addition to Wollersheim’s regular guided tours and tastings, guests will have the opportunity to relax with a glass of wine while enjoying harp music, purchase a plated trio of cheesecake, pecans, and frozen grapes dusted in sugar, and take a wagon ride through the vineyard to see where the Ice Wine grapes grow.

Wollersheim’s Ice Wine is made from estate-grown St. Pepin grapes that are harvested in winter after they freeze on the vine. The grapes are crushed and pressed while still frozen, producing a sweet, concentrated juice that winemaker Philippe Coquard calls “nectar of the vines.” The juice is fermented into a wine with nuances of honey and orange zest and is best served ice cold with dessert.

After the release event, Wollersheim Ice Wine will be available at the winery store and in other stores and restaurants across Wisconsin.
