Escape the cold of the Wisconsin winter and warm up with tours, tastings, live music, special releases and more at our annual Port Celebration on January 29th from 12pm-5pm.
“Our Port Celebration is my favorite event of the year,” Winemaker Philippe said. “What a great way to kick off our 50th Anniversary as Wollersheim Winery, Distillery, and Bistro.”
Start your experience off with a self-guided tour at your own pace to see where our Port wines are made. This self-guided tour is complimentary and is offered from 12pm-4pm. We will also have a special Port-focused seated tasting that can be reserved online. The seated tasting will be led by one of our knowledgeable guides at 12:30pm, 2pm, and 3:30pm. Reservations for those tastings can be made here.
Our Bistro will be open for lunch and will feature special foods and desserts that pair well with Port. There will be several wines available to enjoy by the glass and additional flights will be available for tasting in the Winery Store.
Enjoy all your goodies to the sounds of Gin, Chocolate & Bottle Rockets as they return to spice things up in the historic upstairs Sugarloaf Room from 1pm-4pm. The performers combine forces in a power pop-rock trio, featuring tight three-part harmonies.
Don’t forget to stop by the distillery next door to the winery, as we will be releasing our Curiosity Collection No. 7, a new Wisconsin Bourbon finished in Wollersheim Port Barrels. You will be welcomed with a complimentary taste of the White Vermouth before you enjoy spirits flights and hand-crafted cocktails for purchase.
“This special bourbon is distilled from Blue Corn, Rye and Malt before it was aged over 4 1/2 years in new, charred Wisconsin oak barrels,” Wollersheim’s Distiller Tom Lenerz said. “It was then moved to one of our freshly emptied port barrels to pull out some great red fruit notes and sweetness for over a year, bringing the total age of this delicious Bourbon to over 6 years old – our oldest released yet.”
We will also be pulling some old vintages of Ports out of their library. Select vintages such as Port 2008, White Port 2011, and Tawny Port 2005 will be available by the bottle for purchase. These are limited and only available the day of the Port Celebration.
“Port is the best feel-good wine,” Philippe said. “It warms you up, is relaxing, smooth and sweet – it is perfect!”
