Wollersheim Winery Makes Big Splash with Mini Wines
-- Two new flavors available in mini bottles --
(March 29, 2012) Prairie du Sac, WI – Good things really do come in small packages. And now Wollersheim Winery, Wisconsin’s historic winery, is serving up three times the award-winning goodness in a convenient package. Riding on the recent accolades awarded to Wollersheim Winery, the “Platinum-winning” White Riesling as well as Wisconsin-grown Prairie Sunburst Red join Prairie Fumé in 187 milliliter plastic bottle four-packs.
The “Mini” is a 187 ml PET plastic bottle made from recyclable, light-weight plastic specially designed to hold wine without affecting the flavor. The bottles’ small size and plastic material make it a breeze to take wine places that glass can’t go – perfect to pack for picnics, tote to tailgate events, and bring to the beach. Of course, the wines in each bottle are still the same good taste, and wine lovers of all palate preferences now have three award-winning flavor options to choose from:
- Semi-dry white – Prairie Fumé, Wollersheim’s most popular wine, is a fresh, crisp Platinum Award-winning wine with tropical fruit highlights with just a hint of sweetness.
- Dry red – Prairie Sunburst Red is a soft, dry red made from locally-grown Marechal Foch grapes and is bursting with flavors reminiscent of raspberries.
- Semi-sweet white – White Riesling is a Platinum Award-winning fragrant wine with floral aromas of jasmine with a well-balanced palate of ripe peaches and apricots.
While Prairie Fumé minis have been in the market since 2010, the two new mini options are springing into stores just in time for outdoor seasonal adventures. The three varieties of minis are currently available in the Wollersheim Winery Store, and are now arriving in retail stores across Wisconsin as well as exciting seasonal venues around the state, including Miller Park.
The Wollersheim Winery sits on a scenic hillside overlooking the Wisconsin River, just across from Prairie du Sac. This national historic site was selected by European vintners over 150 years ago. Established as the Wollersheim Winery in 1972, today the vineyards are comprised of 27 acres of French-American hybrid grapes. This regional winery has received numerous awards for its premium grape wines, gaining recognition as being one of the leading wineries in the Midwest, including being awarded “Winery of the Year” at the San Diego International Wine Competition in 2012. The winery is open for tours and tastings from 10 am to 5 pm daily, year-round. For more information, visit www.wollersheim.com.
