Wollersheim Mini Prairie Fumé - Unbreakable Good Taste.
News Releases
Wollersheim Winery Introduces Prairie Fumé in Unbreakable, Mini Bottle (May2010)
Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin – Proudly “Rooted in Tradition and Growing through Innovation” Wisconsin’s historic Wollersheim Winery is clearly living up to its motto this week as it offers the popular and award-winning Prairie Fumé wine in a new Mini Prairie Fumé package.
Hitting the Wisconsin market this week, Mini Prairie Fumé is a “single serving” 187 ml plastic bottle that will be ideal for picnics, concerts, event venues and for serving poolside. The traditional standard glass bottle holds 750 ml.
A crisp, fresh, semi-dry white bursting with citrus and tropical fruit highlights, ,Prairie Fumé is the most recognizable Wisconsin-made wine, as well as a multiple Double Gold, Gold, and “Best of…” winner in international wine competitions. Last year Wollersheim Winery celebrated the 20th anniversary of the popular wine.
When asked about what prompted the winery to begin the “mini’s”, winemaker and owner Philippe Coquard explains, “Quite often it is not easy or practical to transport a full glass bottle of wine when going on a picnic, but with a smaller plastic option it becomes a lot easier.”
Coquard further jokes, “Plus, the Packers and Brewers asked us!” In actuality, it was during a Packer game at Lambeau Field when Coquard began to think about the possibility of hearing a vendor shout, “Wine here!” Bottling the Prairie Fumé in an unbreakable bottle brings the winery one step closer to realizing that dream. For now, Coquard is content with making it more convenient for people around Wisconsin to enjoy on a picnic or poolside. Also watch for Mini Prairie Fumé at golf courses, water parks, outdoor concerts, and sporting venues.
Wollersheim Winery is located on a scenic hillside overlooking the Wisconsin River about 25 miles northwest of Madison. Take Highway 12 west from Madison then follow Highway 188 north about two miles. The winery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily for tours and tastings, year-round.
Wollersheim wines, produced and bottled at the winery in Prairie du Sac, can also be found at fine stores and restaurants all over Wisconsin and, as of recently, in Northern Illinois. For more information, visit www.wollersheim.com.
