Wollersheim Winery to Kick off Summer with Prairie Fumé Picnic Days (June 2010)
Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin – Families of all ages are invited to kick off the summer at the winery for Prairie Fumé Picnic Days. Running Friday, June 18th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and Saturday, June 19th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, the event offers winery tours, wine tasting, live music, and a relaxing place to enjoy your picnic. Visitors are invited to bring their picnic food, picnic blanket or chairs, and possibly an umbrella for rain or sun! The Winery will have wine, other beverages, and a selection of snack items and Wisconsin cheese to purchase. Guests are asked to not bring grills or carry-in beverages and to leave pets at home.
Along with the featured perfect picnic wine, Prairie Fumé, the winery also has a wide variety of other Wollersheim wines to pair with your picnic. Visitors can taste these wines inside the winery or buy a glass or bottle outside to enjoy with their picnic. The winery takes pride in producing all Wollersheim wines at the winery in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Live music from “Streetlife” will be playing outside on the balcony on Friday 3:00 pm - 6:45 pm and Saturday 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
The winery will also be offering guided winery tours during this event. The tour includes the winery history, an explanation of the winemaking process including a visit to the underground cellars, as well as a formal wine tasting. Tours last about an hour and cost $3.50 per person with children 11 and under at no charge. Additional activities for Friday and Saturday include a Kid’s Coloring Area where kids can make a Father’s Day card, and an open grass area to throw a Frisbee or kick a soccer ball.
Located 25 miles northwest of Madison, Wollersheim Winery’s Prairie Fumé Picnic Days is open to the public. Hours of the Picnic Days are Friday, June 18th from 3 to 7 and Saturday, June 19th from 11 to 4. From Madison, take Hwy 12 west to north on Hwy 188.
